Our guest chef, Ahmet Mamut, currently resides in Phoenix, Arizona. As an Uyghur, he has a lifetime of experience with his homeland's cuisine as well as the cultural influences of neighboring countries (he is fluent in Uyghur, Russian, Chinese and English). Chef Mamut has been cooking Uyghur food professionally for over a decade, serving as head chef for restaurants in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan as well as in the USA. We are very proud to bring him to Philadelphia for this event.
Dancing Ferret has been a part of Philadelphia's hospitality and entertainment industry for over sixteen years. The company's events have been covered by HBO, National Geographic, A&E, The History Channel and numerous local and regional media outlets. Dancing Ferret has produced and promoted events in North America, South America, Europe and Asia, the last of which was where company head Patrick Rodgers had his first taste of Uyghur cuisine. Ever since, he has been obsessed not only with having such wonderful food again, but sharing it with his friends and Philadelphia's culinary scene.
Built by famed architect William Strickland in 1837 to house the National Mechanics Bank, the building has been the home of churches, nightclubs, restaurants, bars and (obviously) banks during its storied history. Its impressive exterior has made it a landmark in Old City. The proprietor of this much-loved restaurant, Paul Brown, has extensive experience in the hospitality field and has designed an impressive menu of food and drinks.
